Tired of Resting

Ever get to the point when you just get tired of resting. Thats how I've felt most of the week. I know I need to rest and stay warm to get better. Plus, trying to walk my 5 miles a day was totally out of the question as weak as I was.

So what's a girl to do, you ask?

I had yarn in my hands and on my lap most of the week.

Week 10 of Sophie's Universe Complete

And of course I just had to finish Week 11 also!!!!

Only 9 more weeks to go. I did have to go and purchase another hue of pink. Its the first color to run out!

On and Off the Hook!

Well the Pink and Grey blanket is done. It only took a year! It would have been finished much sooner but after I got into it, I realized I didn't like the colors and the pattern was horribly monotonous. Maybe had I made it the size of a throw, I would have liked it much better. Making it for a Queen sized bed was where I went wrong with it. An untested pattern to me, and just way to big of a commitment. Any who, my mom loves it. So in the end I guess that's all that really matters.

These were originally were going to be leg warmers but they will end up arm guards instead. They are made out of Hobby Lobby I love this wool. I honestly, love their product. It is so easy to work with. Not a lot of snagging, and its soft. These were started last year also. Finished!

New project. I had to adapt the original pattern. Of course I used different yarn then what the pattern called for. So..... It looks a bit different. I'm also not going to add the hood, Just a large collar. I still need to the front and the edging. I'm hoping to have this done by the weekend. As this is going to be my new fall jacket. Once its done I will share where to get the pattern from.

Mysteries Abound!

Here is week 4. I'm really liking how it is coming together. I wasn't 100% sure about the colors in the beginning. The only thing I didn't get done was tieing in the ends from this week. Just lazy I guess. If you have started or want to start this you can find this weeks installment here. http://www.yarnspirations.com/kal-cal#week4 Today week 5 comes out! Super excited to get going on this as it will be the half way mark. Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together.

As far as the other mystery. It has quite a few rounds in week 4. And I have been doing a lot of frogging. I'm hoping to get week 4 & 5 done this week though. Wish me luck.
If your keeping up on this one http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/sophies-universe-cal-2015/sophies-universe-cal-part-4/ I'm about half way done with week 4 but since it is so intricate. I figured I would share what's done so far.

I have also been getting 1 to 2 rows of the pink and grey blanket done at a time also.
Not sure how wide it will be once its done but it is the length of a king sized bed. I have 13 skiens of yarn for it. So we will have to wait and see.

Ash Wednesday & a Mystery

I didn't partake in any King Cakes or Paczki, yesterday on Fat Tuesday! What I did was way worse. I had a tuna sandwich for lunch not to bad.... Then a bologna sandwich for an afternoon snack.... Then 2 pieces of pizza and a couple of bread sticks for dinner.... then because I felt like it I had some pasta and sauce for a snack....

Now this isn't a normal fare for me. But it does show that one off decision can lead to more off decisions. See I'm a carb aholic! It would have been fine to have had the tuna sandwich. But I didn't have anything with it. So by the time I got home from my off site job.... I was starving. Which led to the bologna sandwich. Add to that the porkchops I had pulled out weren't thawed and someone was lax on their chores. I said pizza!!! And that leads me to the final decision of the pasta and sauce. The only thing I had yesterday that was healthy was the morning fruit smoothie. Strawberries, black berries and banana... a little almond milk and powdered kale. Looking at how I managed to eat like that I can see the error in my choices.

I need to get in and get some dental work done. I cracked one of my crowns loose. And the other side of my mouth that I'm forced to chew on is horrible. I have put off having the work done. The only thing that comes close to my hate of dental work is house cleaning and would do that everyday 12 hour shifts just to avoid the dentist. With that being said... its hard to eat the raw veg that I would normally be eating with my meals. Apparently, I'm to lazy to cook them also. Over the next month I will be having a lot of dental work done. Lazy or not I need to make better choice.... Was doing so good. That's always the way it goes. Something happens that we don't expect and it changes everything.

So what does all of this have to do with Ash Wednesday. As most of you know I'm not Catholic. But I really do enjoy Lent. Its 40 days to give you a chance to form a new habit. Its 40 days to become a better you~!  Its not like a resolution, that the media and society say you won't stick to. This is a religious idea, and if you say I gave up >>>> for lent, people are more likely to be behind your decision. I understand that its all a mind set.... And if I don't mind, then it doesn't matter. I also know that when you feel like the world is against you most people cave.

For my 40 days of Lent.... I'm giving up ground flour products. No pasta, bread, crackers, cake, pizza. Well you get the idea. Its funny when I went on the paleo diet it was so easy to stay away form these items and then slowly they made their way back into my diet.

Now on to the mystery!

Here is the first week.

20 Granny Squares.

Lavendar Blue is my main color.

Color A

Here is the link for week 2

The color is Sage

Color B

I only have 2 done so far. I'm hoping to get a few more done tonight. And a big chunck done tomorrow!

Chatty

I guess I should go away more often. I come back just aching to type... LOL!

This summer has been a whirlwind of activities.

I didn't have time to sit and read one book.

But I did get started on yet another afghan.

Well sort of....

I cut up a bunch of old t-shirts and made my own yarn

Cause I have nothing better to do with me time.

LOL!

This yarn is now being turned into a rug for the camper.

Hoping it turns out.

I may have to frog what I've already done, because I don't like how the end looks.

To tight.

Decisions, Decisions!

Hugs

Summer is almost over!

This summer has been busy doing nothing... Well, that's not true. I have become care taker of my mother in law. She was diagnosed with vascular dementia about 6 months ago. Since then she has need some extra attention.

My oldest monster has been home from university. She ended up being in a roll over car accident. She is fine... The driver of the car and her were both able to walk away from it.

We went on a weeks vacation camping. During that time it rained so we could get into the property to do anything. But we were able to do some off road ing.

I was able to do a few shows with Thirty-one! I have more planned for the upcoming months! Can't wait... I've already seen the new fall catalog and I want everything in it.... LOL! The life of a consultant! : p

I was in a parade for the 4th of July. I'm the treasurer for the ladies auxiliary of the VFW, now.

We have had 2 weddings! Both cousins of mine! Both absolutely stunning Brides!

Picky monster and I went across country to the junior Olympics! She won a Silver and a Gold Medal in her age divisions.

We have one new family member and another on the way! Both cousins!

And of course in all this free time I started another blanket! This is the pattern that was used by the mother in breaking Amish!

In just about 2 weeks, we take the oldest back to school! And we start Picky monsters Senior year of High School and Mouthy Monsters first year of middle school. Oh, how the time flies!

Until the next installment!
Hugs,

Beginnings and Ends

Yesterday, I mailed out the application for the address on the property and check! They say that once they receive it the time it will take is only 5 days. So before St. Pat's I'm expecting to be the proud owners of a Street Address! It sounds funny to say that. Even though people have owned the property before us... We will be the first to own the address. Since we can't get there to do anything or even see how much snow is on the ground! I can only imagine...

So I have to turn my attention to what's going on here.

This is the garden area... This is the first time I looked out this window all winter... In my defense it's because I put bubble wrap on the windows.... So I couldn't see out. LOL! I am going to try and put in a carefree garden this year. You know the type that will take care of itself other then for a little water. Since we will be doing weekend trips north to the property, I don't want to put to much time or energy in down here. At least for this summer.

I will have a couple of garden areas that will need to be filled in as I will be taking the blueberries and the golden and black raspberries and planting them on the property. So that is going to free up the 5 sets of tires and the 1 bed.

But since Spring is still away's off... I have to keep busy in the house.

Firstly, I have resumed following the Flylady! She has helped me in the past to get the CHAOS under control. She will help again this time. For as lackadaisical as I seem... I am a very organized person, I even have lists & follow the calendar. So far so good! Living Room... check! Now on to the kitchen. I just wish they could put the calendar from cozi to yahoo. It would make my life easier! Just Sayin'!

The autumn afghan is all done but for tying off the ends.

The finished measurements are 45" wide and 59" long. I used Red Heart Love and Bernat. That was the only way I could get the colors I wanted. I think it turned out very nice. Now just to tie in the ends.

Never did show you!

I was disappointed when I couldn't get in to see my afghan on display.... So when I went to pick it up, it was sitting in a dark room with the ribbon just tossed on top and a tag that had to be matched up with my receipt. I was very upset with the way the whole situation was handled and because of that I didn't take any joy in a job well done.

But now that I have had a chance to think about it.... It really doesn't matter, how the situation was handled... I took Second Place!!! See my pretty ribbon! This is my first one.... I am thrilled with that. I even won a $2 cash prize... WOO HOO! Grim, said he is going to build me a case for the ribbon because he thinks its the first of many!!!

Finished Projects

Here are two of the afghans I made... The striped one is the first one I made for the other trailer. Back up.... The 1968 Frolic was suppose to be my rainbow trailer. Since it took to long to finish and we needed to get another trailer the new one has become the rainbow trailer... LOL! So the theme for the frolic will be cowboy. Yep, already got started on the blankets for that one too!

So the ripple is the first one. The square one is actually a scrap-ghan. I love, love, love them! They are both so warm and comfy! And I love how they add so much color to a grey area. Since these were origianlly going to be used as the blankets for the dining area of the other trailer that's why they are on the small side. They are about the size of a twin bed.

There are actually 3 sleeping areas in the camper. So this one has these two blankets. The next one has the quilt ( remember the quilt I was making, I finished it, pictures soon ) of many colors. I was finally able to get the backing sewed on. I probably should do some type of tying, but I didn't use any batting so I don't know if I need to. I will know more once it's in use in the trailer. So I just need to work on the last area. I don't know if I will do something in yarn or material or both! I have seen some really cute patterns on pintrest so of course I have no idea now what I want to do... LOL! Leave it to pintrest to give me more ideas than I have time to complete. I guess winter is coming so?!?!?

WIP Stage 4

As you can see I am on the final round!!! I even was able to find my square stretcher! I am very happy about that. Because that means that I have 50% of the squares done and stretched. Today I will work on finishing the rest of them. So hopefully, I can get it done before this weekend.

One to Step 3 ~ WIP

I was finally able to complete all of stage 2!!! YEAH! The funny part is I told you last time that this stage was very hard for me... Well, I think I figured out why? I did the wrong stitch. I did a cross between a puff and popcorn stitch... And that's not what it called for. That's why it so tight and seemed to take forever to do. Go figure, I guess that's what happens when I think I know what to do and didn't double check to make sure I was doing the right thing. So now this is no longer the Sunburst... It's a modified Sunburst, or Sunburst-esk.

Even though I am only showing you the first one finished at stage 3 I am almost done with that stage also. Sorry I just haven't had time to get on here and post the pictures. I know its silly I take all these photos with the grand intentions of doing all this blogging and I just can't find the time.

I love these colors they are going to make a very happy blanket when its all done. I can't wait to get this stage done so I can get the white on there and join all these squares. I still don't know if I'm going to do 4 x 10 or 5 x 8. I think that I will enter it into the fair next year.

Speaking of the fair. It was suppose to start on Monday. I guess it did as for the judging of animals and such. Grim and I found time to get out there with the monsters and see what I won if I won anything. Well, wouldn't you know it they didn't have all the entries out for display yet?!? The woman told me that she might be all done by 7pm and if not she would be done the following day. This was at 2 in the afternoon. Girm told me I needed to get on a committee and get them people crackin'. That every thing should be done for opening day. So needless to say I'm really disappointed. I wasn't able to get back out there to see my afghan hanging, to hear what passerby's might be saying. I will be going on Sunday to pick it up and will know then the results.

WIP ~ SunBurst

I really should be working on the scrap-ghan, since the weather has turn fall like. But it was put away in favor of warmer temps. LOL! Well played Mother Nature, well played! Any who.... I did need to get back to working on this loverly WIP. For some reason all these little puffs make me want to pull my hair out. Not sure why.

But yesterday, I got back to it and got the last of the purple centers done and got 6 of the pink centers finished. As you can see I still have all those blue to do... :(
I'm hoping that the next round will go smoother.

And when I'm doing something, at least one of the monsters wants to come and play. So as you can see the toddlers (the game Mouthy was playing) were attacking my feet. LOL! KIDS!

I'm hoping to get the pink centers all done today. Maybe even get 1 or 2 of the blue done!

P.S.
I turned in the Flamboyant Afghan to the county fair people on Saturday! Keeping fingers crossed for a ribbon!!!!

Scrap-ghan WIP Update

Now that all the scraps have been used, I have purchased an additional 6 skeins.... there is no end in sight. LOL!

It is goingto be lovely once its done. But with the temps soaring, I'm not sure when it will get done.

After the brown is done I'll move on to Cherry!
