Ash Wednesday & a Mystery

I didn't partake in any King Cakes or Paczki, yesterday on Fat Tuesday! What I did was way worse. I had a tuna sandwich for lunch not to bad.... Then a bologna sandwich for an afternoon snack.... Then 2 pieces of pizza and a couple of bread sticks for dinner.... then because I felt like it I had some pasta and sauce for a snack....

Now this isn't a normal fare for me. But it does show that one off decision can lead to more off decisions. See I'm a carb aholic! It would have been fine to have had the tuna sandwich. But I didn't have anything with it. So by the time I got home from my off site job.... I was starving. Which led to the bologna sandwich. Add to that the porkchops I had pulled out weren't thawed and someone was lax on their chores. I said pizza!!! And that leads me to the final decision of the pasta and sauce. The only thing I had yesterday that was healthy was the morning fruit smoothie. Strawberries, black berries and banana... a little almond milk and powdered kale. Looking at how I managed to eat like that I can see the error in my choices.

I need to get in and get some dental work done. I cracked one of my crowns loose. And the other side of my mouth that I'm forced to chew on is horrible. I have put off having the work done. The only thing that comes close to my hate of dental work is house cleaning and would do that everyday 12 hour shifts just to avoid the dentist. With that being said... its hard to eat the raw veg that I would normally be eating with my meals. Apparently, I'm to lazy to cook them also. Over the next month I will be having a lot of dental work done. Lazy or not I need to make better choice.... Was doing so good. That's always the way it goes. Something happens that we don't expect and it changes everything.

So what does all of this have to do with Ash Wednesday. As most of you know I'm not Catholic. But I really do enjoy Lent. Its 40 days to give you a chance to form a new habit. Its 40 days to become a better you~!  Its not like a resolution, that the media and society say you won't stick to. This is a religious idea, and if you say I gave up >>>> for lent, people are more likely to be behind your decision. I understand that its all a mind set.... And if I don't mind, then it doesn't matter. I also know that when you feel like the world is against you most people cave.

For my 40 days of Lent.... I'm giving up ground flour products. No pasta, bread, crackers, cake, pizza. Well you get the idea. Its funny when I went on the paleo diet it was so easy to stay away form these items and then slowly they made their way back into my diet.

Now on to the mystery!

Twice

I know twice in one week... You are all gonna get spoiled! Not to much new going on... I just felt like typing.

First, I'm down 6 pounds. Good start. Still tired most days. Very tired. But I am starting to have a few good days. I am doing yoga in the studio once a week. I am now meditating twice a week. Doing 5k a day... but most days I'm hitting 10k. I'm also doing 10 squats a day. I know it doesn't sound like much but its something.

Still haven't sat down to do get any yarning done. But I did find yarn that I bought awhile ago. There is enough for 2 blankets. Good thing Grim, doesn't care how much yarn I have just as long as it becomes something eventually! I also signed up to do a mystery afghan. I think that might be just what I need to get my creative juices flowing again.

Can't stop thinking about all the things that I want to do at the property. Grim and I are really hoping to be there quite a bit this summer. Keeping fingers crossed about the best layed plans and all that. I have been pinning like crazy! The ideas people come up with are just super fantastic. Things I would never have thought of.

Well, I guess that's about it for this time!

Happy Imbolc!

Wow.... February 2nd! Usually its March that comes in like a Lion..... February must have just wanted to get noticed this year! 18 inches of snow in less then 36 hours. It wouldn't have been bad but we have been soooooo spoiled this year. This storm really hit us unawares. The one thing that always sticks out to me is the fear that sets into people when any type of storm is on its way. I ended up having to go to walmart to get turkeys for an upcoming Vet's Luncheon that we are hosting. Now mind you there wasn't even a flake in the air yet. At this point people were grabbing cases and cases of water, toilet paper and bread. Its sad really that most people don't even have the 72 hours worth of prep that FEMA says for us to have.

Grim and I are still in the crazy planning stage of our property. You know we can do anything because its still free to dream stage * smiles*! But we both know that stage will be ending soon. With that happening it has come to my attention that I need to try and do better with Thirty-one business. I think I can do better... I just need to try harder. I have even started with a plan and actual goals.

I finally got all my work in projects pulled out and put into one place. Now this isn't the directions and yarn that I have put away. Just the things I've started and need to finish before Spring rears its warm, wet, sloppy head! I'm still trying to figure out a pattern for the rug that I'm using the t-shirt yarn for. I have already frogged it several times.

Here is the yarn and the first incarnation! Still plugging away... once I get going on it with a pattern I like I will take pictures and share!
