Spring Fever

I know that we are weeks away from winter's end. But I have had the worse case of Spring Fever. I got into the bathroom and washed the ceiling, walls and cabinets. Still need to do the floor. In my room we finally got around to getting a new mattress set. So right now I am waiting for it to be delivered.

Grim and I went out to the LDS Home Storage Center this week. First, let me just say how very nice the people were that were out there. They were very helpful and were able to answer all of my questions. I got quite a bit of red and white wheat, black & white beans, powdered milk and some pasta. Oh, they even had a couple cans of apples. So I got 2. I opened one as soon as we got home, cause I have always heard how good they are. And let me tell you they are as good as everyone has said they are. Since I don't have any experience with #10 cans and dry goods I picked up a couple of the started kits. They have 2 Hard red wheat, 2 white rice, pinto beans, quick oats, all #10 cans. The boxes also have recipes and some other good beginner information. All in all, Grim and I had a good experience and are planning on going back again in a couple of months. I still have to put everything away.

Ok, now I'm going to brag... Picky monster won first place for creating a bookmark for the school library. She got her bookmark lamenated, a certificate and $5. I am so proud of her. She plans on being a CSI that is an artist by night.... LOL! To be 13 again with all the dreams and aspirations!

Almost forgot.... I found the cord to my camera so I will have some pictures in the next few days to share.

Just a quick note

I just wanted to let you all know what I accomplished today. I was finally able to get in touch with the LDS center. Grim and I have an appointment for next Thursday night. I can't wait. We are going to do bulk this time. As the man that I spoke with said that since we were unfirmiliar with the way of the pouches it would take a considerable amount of time for the amount I want to get. Lets just say that it will be quite a bit.... LOL! That really is an understatement....

Grim, was nice enough to order me a hand grinder. It is on its way. Should be here early next week. When we went to see the Amish a couple months ago, I got wheat berries. So as soon as it shows up, I plan on tring it out. Yeah!!! It is coming from Emergency Essentials.

I also wanted to let you know that if your looking for wheat berries and need them now. Try looking at Walmart. They had both red and white wheat berries. $13.xx for a 25lb bag. Kind of expensive, considering what the price is at the LDS. But if your in a pinch and need it now, then that may be an option for you.

Oh, I got tired of looking at the box with my sewing projects in it. So I got out the machine. I fixed Mouthy's jammies and I sewed the back to the patchwork that has been pinned for months. I even sewed up the baby fleece blanket. Really pretty pinks and purple. If any one is interested in the fleece baby blanket let me know and we can work something out.

I also have 3 copies of Mary Jane Farms Outpost. These are brand new books. I fell into a deal and am willing to pass on the savings to you. If you interested let me know.

How one thing leads to another

I started looking for how to build a rabbit hutch on you tube last night. I found some really great information. Then I found how to breed and set up for birthing of the kits. Of course then how to dispatch and butcher said rabbit. After that I looked at food storage and water storage.  There is a ton of great information on you tube. I was even reminded about http://www.ready.gov/ It has a great basic plan that you can follow. There is even a printout that you can give to family and friends that think you might be a bit kooky for the things you do. And it's from the government ( our taxes paid for it so you might as well use it)..... so its good for the sleepers ( the ones who think nothing will ever happen to them)!

Here is a site that you can use for a food storage calculator http://www.providentliving.org/content/display/0,11666,7498-1-4070-1,00.html
Here is the Home Storage Center Order Form

Deals to Meals Is another great site on food storage
Prepared LDS Family Has a ton of information

See this post was just suppose to be about you tube and I ended up spending two hours looking at new site and blogs... LOL! Good thing I had the time to do it. Thats what happened last night and I didn't even get to see Joel. Even though I'm not a Christian, I still think what he talks about applies to each and everyone of us.

Day off

The monsters were out of school today. So everyone slept in. I got more laundry done. We ate leftovers. Dh and I went out and got the rite-aid brand of tylenol and motrin for $.99 a bottle, also got halls cough drops for the same price. We needed it and I got a couple for the stock.
I found more evidence of a mouse. A Christmas candy that made its way to the back of the couch had little teeth marks in it. I have a couple of traps set. If I don't catch it soon I will have to let one of the cats run around to get it. Generally, the cats stay in the family room area. They don't run the rest of the house.
Here is the link for the pretzels. This site has a lot of great recipes. There are a few more that I will be trying out in the near future.
I watched a great series on food storage on youtube. Here is the link to the blog she writes. Everythingunderthesunblog.blogspot.com The site has a ton of great information. Also if you get a chance check out the videos over at youtube.
