Ramblings of a Crazy Lady

Sorry I couldn’t resist the title… LOL! Even though some many say that statement is very close to the truth. Any who, we are back into fall like weather. The heat has even made a reappearance. The Natural Gas company must love that. My bleeding hearts decided that they were more then ready for spring and bloomed. I think they came out of hibernation a bit early. The flowers this morning did not look good. I hope that its just a minor set back. I am to scared to go out back and look at the Pear tree. The other day it has such pretty blooms. I hope that we will get fruit off one of the trees this year.

I forgot to tell you but Grim and I trimmed the grape vines. Hopefully, we did a decent job and they still produce. But that is one of the those learning curve things. I won’t know how badly we did until late summer.

We had a nice storm roll through this afternoon. Thunder, Lightning, Hail and rain so hard you could barely see to drive across flooded roads. Yep, we were out picking up monsters in it. I can only imagine what they would have looked like had they had to walk in it… Soggy monsters! LOL!

My health food store started carrying Bubbies pickles and sauerkraut. I am thrilled with this, as now I don’t have to drive almost an hour away to get them. Yummmm! I think I sold every jar they had in the cooler tonight just hyping up the taste and benefits of the products!

When I was a kid, we were able to get a product called Tar salve. God that stuff stunk but would it heal a wound or draw out a sliver or infection. I wish I could find it now, just to have some on hand. I’ve seen some new products but they don’t look or smell the same.

Work on the pillow is coming along. I hope to have it done with pictures by the end of next week. I will going to see my uncle this weekend. So no time to crochet. I have even been working on a new coaster design. I like this one much better. I have 4 made and lots more to do.

I start therapy for my foot on Tuesday. I am really looking forward to getting started. The motrin and the ice seem to be helping. But I am hoping that by the time I am done I will be able to get back on the treadmill to get back to training to run a 5k.

Well, that’s enough rambling!

Household Update

Things have been busy here. Like I said we got back from the college visit. Who would have thought that we would be on the beach in March and loving it.

DSCF3479

I love the surf coming in… But it was way to cold to swim. It was lovely to look at.

DSCF3498

Doesn’t this rock have the cutest face. I left it there for someone else to find.

DSCF3503

I have been working on a couple new projects. You know it can’t all be fun in the sun….. LOL!

DSCF3504

These are from the yarn I had leftover from the rainbow afghan. This use of the yarn looks way different then the afghan.

DSCF3507

This is what they look like with the square around them.

DSCF3510

I love how they stand up like flower petals.

DSCF3513

Once they are sewn together they will make a pillow for the camper.

DSCF3514

Last night I couldn’t stand it anymore. I got started with this years seeds. There are roma, brandywine, red cherry, yellow cherry, rainbow cherry tomatoes. Then I did spinach, swiss chard, pumpkins, radishes and tomitillo’s. As soon as they sprout I will take the lids off. I am hoping that I get a good germination. Half will be going over to my mom’s. I am hoping to get a better crop over there this year.

Totally Spent

Grim, Teenage Monster and I spent an exhausting weekend exploring the university campus of her dreams. Really all I can say is WOW. If I would have known college life would have been like this I would have run to college. She is very excited. We are very pleased. And she will only be about 8 hours away from us. She still has one more year of high school but the form filling has to begin very soon.

I will have a post ready for tomorrow. Right now I'm sleepy

Transformation

I was able to get the afghan done!

DSCF3420DSCF3422
DSCF3421

It ended up about 6 feet long. It is folded in half in the pictures. I love the thing so much. Funny how I started making it before I had the trailer and honestly it doesn’t match a thing in the house. How things work some times.

I even was able to put together a coaster. Not sure if I like it or not.

DSCF3425

I think that it’s the second row that’s throwing it off for me. It is a variegated and it really doesn’t change, except for the yellow. I will try again without the variegated and see how that looks.

We got a ton done of the trailer over the weekend. On one of the most high holy days in this house we worked. Even had to have Teenage monster make the corned beef and cabbage. ( She did a fine job, even if I say so myself. ) The entry door needed to be rebuilt.

DSCF3411DSCF3417

As you can see from this picture the frame was broken. This is just one of 3 breaks.

DSCF3413

Of course we had company during this renovation and I forgot to take pictures of the new insides of the door. But it was pretty and clean…. new wood and white Styrofoam.

DSCF3424

This is a scrap sketch page of ideas for the trailer. I had to do something while Grim took care of the door.

We already started on the trunk and the trunk door. Those pictures will come in the next few days.

Spring has Sprung

The past couple days I spent in the trailer cleaning it up. I also had to make curtains to cover all the windows. So I took a flat sheet and cut it down, then used duct tape and taped them up. I know, nothings to good for me…. LOL! Sorry no pictures of the new curtains, maybe next time.

I did want to show off the progress of the afghan that I’m working on.

DSCF3326

The pictures show that the orange is the half way point.

DSCF3328

I am already back to the light blue. Only a couple more rows left to do!

The rest of the week is going to be hectic here. I have started Spring Cleaning! YUCK! It needs to be done and I’m the gal for the job. The living room is almost done. A couple hours tomorrow. Then on to the dining room. The kitchen and bathroom aren’t to bad, they shouldn’t take to long…. I hope!

Grim has to look at the car. It sounds like I am dragging metal. I hope I don’t need brakes yet. I only have 8000 miles on it. Have to wait till he gets up.

Look what I got!

Went and looked at it yesterday. Of course I couldn't pass up the deal the guy made me. So it came home.

.

Today I spent the day at the Secretary of State. Then had to get the insurance on it. If that wasn't enough we went to a couple of the camper places in the area to see what they could help us with. Needless to say the economy is doing so good that they didn't need the money from a small timer like me. Both places shooed me out with the cost of a new entry door between $500 and $700. Oh, well. Their loss and my gain in experience. Grim and I already figured out how to reuse and make a door ourselves with the stuff we already have.

Any who.... Grim named it the "Streamlined Butterfly"! I can't wait to show her off once she is done. But don't worry I will keep you all updated as things start to change.

Could this be mine?

Grim and I are going to go look at this on Sunday. I have wanted one for quite awhile. I looked at a couple last year. They were to much money and in way to bad of shape. But from the pictures this one doesn’t look to bad and the price is almost right.

IMG_20110729_074218IMG_20110729_074124

I need to measure the driveway to make sure it will fit. I want to keep it here, not at a lot. That way we can do the renovation on it ourselves. If I get it then I want to be able to take it camping this summer. Lots of work, little time. LOL! Isn’t that always the way though.

Since I’ve been gone

DSCF3297

I have been busy doing a ton of stuff. I even have pictures. But first let me tell you that my uncle is doing quite a bit better. Thank the Gods for that. Next I am doing great now that, the nasty tooth is gone. I have an appointment today with my GP. I need her to refer me out for my foot and I have a lump/bump inside my nose that I want to have looked at. *update* The GP took x-rays and said I have a heel spur…. so big she wanted to show me the x-ray. As soon as I figure out how to take a picture of the thing I will post to show you. So now I am officially known as chicken foot… LOL! Bakaaaaaa!

I have been working like crazy on wash clothes. They are made from 100% cotton. They will be used in the bathroom…. And the cheap, crappy wash clothes will be moved over to rags. I bought 8 ~ 2oz skeins of sugar n’ cream, that should be enough to make 12. I have 5 done so far.

DSCF3309

I made two jar hats… LOL! They are the cutest things. I have one in the fridge on the sourdough and the other one is on the kefir on the counter. I didn’t have enough scraps to do this so I had to go and buy more… darn! This is actually only the second pattern I have learned on my own. Thank the Gods for you tube!If you want the pattern it can be found here at Le monde de Sucrette

DSCF3314

I wanted to switch over more store bought items to homemade so I started with makeup remover. And of course who needs cotton balls when you can go to the thrift store and get to flannel baby blankets and make your own reusable wipes. That’s just what I did. I can’t say that I came up with this myself…. I got the idea from “One Good Thing from Jillee

DSCF3307

Here are pictures of the curtains that I made! I had this material in my stash for a couple years with the intention of making these just never got around to doing it. I am really happy with the way they turned out.

DSCF3316

I have even learned how to do a ripple stitch in crochet. This is great since I know have all this yarn to use up that I bought for the jar hats. Here is my attempt. This pattern can be found at Le monde de Sucrette also. I am making it big enough to be afghan size. The two oldest monsters both have put in their request for new ripple blankets…I told them they had to wait to see if I could manage to get this one done…. Considering that I am starting a new afghan the beginning of March.

DSCF3317

That’s about it for now… I need to get back the rest of the projects before Spring shows up and I don’t want to be in the house any more.
