Coral Snake Afghan

Since a very close friend of mine is getting married at the end of the month, I thought I should make him something. So in the hottest part of the year I made a blanket that has the colors of a coral snake & it even has balls. This is just a quick pic to show off. I will take more pics once I pull it out to wrap.

Intermission

This is just the intermission folks...!

With the monsters going back to school next week, my time has become very limited... So I am still around but its hectic to say the least.

Update on what's been happening around here. The spinach didn't come up so I planted red russian kale on the 28th. We have a rabbit hutch built with the exception of the roof.... Still need to get shingles. My house is getting its fall cleaning. I'm down to only four projects left in the living room to be finished, two sweaters (more on those later), the flamboyant afghan has its rows sewn together (still need to sew the rows to one another) and the quilt needs to be sewn (I just got the invisible thread) (poor project... out of sight out of mind until I started cleaning)! Then the living room will be done. Once that's done I have a week to deep clean the rest of the house before my Thirty-one party!

I am now part of the workforce!

I decided that with a college tuition bill looming I needed to contribute to the cause...

I am now a direct sales consultant for Thirty-One. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the company here's a little background. The company started 9 years ago with a vision that given the right tools and encouragement women could do amazing things in this field! The company sells bags, purses, organizational items and all most all the items can be personalized! I am absolutely in love with this product!

I am hosting a Grand Opening Party on September 9th. You can see a virtual catalog here at...http://www.mythirtyone.com/224740. If you want to order something you can do so by clicking on My Parties, then the shop now button and have it shipped right to your home! There is a really great special coming out on September 1st.... I wish I could let you know now but its worth the wait!

If your interested in hosting a Catalog show let me know! I would love to help you earn free items! Or if you find that you love the product as much as I do, why not consider becoming a consultant! I can help you get started with your own business.

Thanks for Reading!

Notice

Just wanted to let you all know that for the next few days I am going to be super busy.... Its one of those what did I talk myself into!

I have right now a bushel of each.... tomatoes, green peppers and hungarian sweets. I have 5 dozen ears of corn, 6 huge zucchini and a bag full of swiss chard. (not bad for $42) The oldest is at band camp and the other two are hiding... Grim is at work so I guess I'm on my own!

The sad thing is that this is just the beginning.... I'm going to pick raspberries in the morning. My yarning will be put on hold while the produce is fresh. I'm not going to as many things as I have tried to do in the past. But I will be doing more of each product instead....That should make it simpler, I'm hoping! I decided to wait on the carrots and potatoes till the oldest is home next week.

Update

I need to have a reminder of when I planted the fall garden. I know I don't have a garden any more... But what I do have is the front of the berries that were planted this year. So I made two rows and I planted today Easter Egg Radishes, (30 days), Tonda di Parigi Carrots (65 days), and Bloomsdale Long - Standing Spinach (48 days). I figured that I needed to get my hands dirty since almost everything I planted died from the heat. On the plus side the grapes are still holding on and the sunflowers are just starting to open. So Autumn might hold some promise after all!

I have finished all 100 squares. I need to start putting them together.... But before I can I had to start on an afghan for my "Brother". He is getting married on Sept. 29th. Since I only have so much time and the weather has turned cooler I can handle having all that yarn on my lap. I'm hoping to have it done by the weeks end... I know wishful thinking.

I also want to go and get potatoes and beans, onions, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes this week to can up. Teenage monster will be gone to band camp and I'm hoping the little ones will be up to the task of helping out.... LOL! It will be interesting if nothing else!

My front porch is looking good. We have the front step replaced and I have all most all my Autumn plants... I still need to get two yellow mums. They will go into pots so that I can move them around next year until they are needed again.

Vacation

I never got around to showing off some of the good parts of the vacation from hell. So here are a few of the highlights.

DSCF3581DSCF3582DSCF3584

This is Lake Superior and Picture Rocks. Kid Rock filmed his Born Free video in this area. We were on the same beach as he was, pretty cool!

These are Miners falls, they are 40ft high. We were across the way taking pictures. Grim and the monsters wanted to climb down but better judgment prevailed. LOL!

These are from one of the evenings coming back from the UP to our cabin. I just love the bonfire… The owners set it up every night for the cabins to enjoy. Almost every night we had hotdogs and smores.

I have seen lately some of the yarners out there, doing afghans using the colors of their trips… I might do that with the picture rocks memories… The colors were amazing.

WIP ~ Flamboyant Afghan

There are 32 finished squares, 18 almost done and 50 centers. By the time this is done it will be 100 squares total. Not sure how big it will be but each square is almost 8 inches….Ok…. Lets do the math….. 10 x 8 = 80 inches x 80 inches = 6ft 8inches x 6ft 8inches…. I guess that should be big enough for wherever it ends up…. See I have no place in mind for this…. I just wanted to see if I could do the pattern…. LOL! I even had to go and buy more colors because it was going to use more then I had…. That’s why the half done squares are different color… They will blend in when its all done.

Winter Forecast

Time to start planning on keeping warm!

Zucchini

I bought 6 zucchini for $2 the other day. The big ones are always cheaper. The small ones were .59 cents a pound. Today the picky monster and I shredded and froze 20 cups. Not a bad haul. I was going to make mock pineapple, maybe next time.
